Kooza - The best show ever!

Cirque Du Soleil (French for "Circus of the Sun") is a circus group based in Canada. They have several performing troupes that travel and perform different shows all over the world. They follow the Cirque Nouveau (or New Circus) concept which I love - a circus with no ring and no animals but a general theme that combines all the acts to convey a story.
I watched Corteo and Delirium in 2006 with very high expectations. The shows were good, but I was a little disappointed since I didn't think they lived up to Cirque's reputation. And then, I watched Kooza over the weekend. What a brilliant, mind-blowing, spectacular show! I was spellbound, had my mouth wide open through more than half the show and have never said "Oh!My!God!" so many times in a span of 3 hours.

Kooza has several acts all accompanied by perfectly matched pieces of music (many performed by a live band on stage). My favourite acts were the contortionists (they MUST have had their bones replaced with rubber), the juggler (he was full of surprises, I loved him) and the two daredevils you see in the picture above, on the Wheel of Death. These two guys looked absolutely fearless, but boy! they really gave me a heart attack. I don't think I've ever felt that much fear in a show before. With the kind of tricks and jumps they were trying, this act was just too much - I'd go back just to see it again.
Kooza is currently running in the grand chapiteau (a colossal, well air-conditioned tent) at Randall's Island. It's the perfect show for friends/relatives who are visiting (and I say this after having seen at least a handful of people happily snoring at Broadway shows after a long day of sight-seeing). The show captures your attention from start to finish. The costumes are beautiful, the sequences well choreographed and the big blue-green curtain made me happy! Kooza is a wonderful visual experience that's enhanced by powerful music. I walked out of there feeling like it was the best show I had ever experienced!

Just saw Kooza last night in Santa Monica. Everything you say is correct. It is an incredible show, the best of the several I've seen over the years.
